I've always had a fairly decent metabolism to the annoyance of a few people. I can eat and eat and eat and fail to gain a huge amount of weight. This, in the past, has been a great advantage when out in restaurants. I could eat a big meal and also have room to finish off the meals of others who haven't quite been able to keep up. Lately, however, I haven't kept up that reputation and noticed that I can't eat as much as I used to.
This was all too evident today when we had lunch (or rather, banquet) at an all-you-can-eat Chinese restaurant. A temptation that's too great to turn down but one that leads to the same predicament each time where my eyes are too big for my stomach. After three plates full of food, I couldn't manage any more and had to leave a few bits to my extreme disappointment. Disappointment in two parts: disappointment with myself for not finishing and wasting food (I hate that); disappointment for listening to my stomach when it was so obviously lying.
That said, it was gorgeous as always and I've hardly had anything to eat for the rest of the day. It was so bad, the thought of more food made me more full. A walk was needed to relieve some of the tummy pressure.
I've literally just had a couple of sandwiches and almost couldn't finish of them.
